Content Marketing is essentially the proof of concept you can update on your website or digital asset. It quite simply provides an opportunity to say who you are and what you do and a way to keep that up to date and interesting. Something past the hard sell and sell by date, something real.
Consider the scenario of being asked to present an aspect of your business in 300 words or less and what that is now. Would you do that as a promise or a proof of works completed? Which would ensure more trust with your audience, or even reassure your audience or customers you can do literally what it says on the tin.
In the dictionary, Content Marketing is defined as: a type of marketing that involves the creation and sharing of online material (such as videos, blogs, and social media posts) that does not explicitly promote a brand but is intended to stimulate interest in its products or services.
So we ask here at Icarus, why go to all that trouble to design and populate a beautiful asset such as your new website or your updated site and not share it? A step further, why share and promote someone else content, which literally promotes their business. Our style is to interview and then produce the blog. We have taken that approach for years and it works well given our background as writers and editors. People are more relaxed when they are asked structured questions. When you remove the questions you ought to have a structured piece of content if you have planned the questions directionally.
Content marketing is simple and can be fun to get going. We encourage all our clients to consider a blog. Spend 10 minutes having a coffee discussing it with colleagues so you are all on the same page, but even better – make it fun, so someone else would like to have a go.
What you could write about is who you are, what you like in context of your business or field and what insights you could share and try the interview approach. Take a definition of a concept and ask others ( your intended audience) to be interested in it. Most of all, keep it light and functional, to the point and you will become the source of interest and not have to rely on others for your content marketing. Have a go, keep it fresh and have fun.
